Vincent van Gogh
Van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch artist who is now among the most well known and celebrated artists in the world. In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks, including landscapes, still-lifes, and portraits. He was a uniquely dexterous artist in the representation of texture and mood. Yet in his lifetime van Gogh battled not only public disinterest but also severe bouts of depression. He also suffered years of poverty, committing suicide in 1890 at age 37.
